Wines of Monferrato and Langhe
The Langa Astigiana is above all a land of vineyards: Barbera (feminine, according to local customs) is the wine that best represents us, as it is linked to the ancient Piedmonts’ peasant traditions.
Without forgetting Dolcetto or Cortese and with a particular praise to the aromatic sweet wines, such as the DOCG Moscato d’Asti, DOCG Brachetto d’Acqui, DOCG Asti and the DOC Loazzolo (produced from late harvested Muscat grapes – this is the smallest Italian DOC).
Another beautiful reality, typical of this small area, is the “Albarossa” vine, the result of a clonal cross made by Professor Dalmasso in 1938, between the Barbera grape and the Nebbiolo of Dronero.
